About Headstart

Young people on Headstart and Wellbeing in School

We have a pot of funding available for videos/animations/other to be produced by young people for young people about Headstart in their schools and communities (total value £15k but more funds may be available).

We can offer this as an opportunity to pupils in secondary schools in Cornwall to work with Pirate FM to create videos/animations. If the school wants to create in-house that can be supported.

We’re looking for pieces that celebrate what has changed/developed/taken place to improve young people’s emotional health and well-being. This may be a case-study on:

  • what has changed in the school over 2017-2021 (e.g. approach to well-being) as a result of Headstart
  • A specific project funded by the £1k young people grants (provides more scope)
  • A well-being centre in school, part funded by Headstart
  • Something completely different so long as it’s connected to Headstart

We want to hear from young people about what has worked to support their well-being. This is learning from a young person’s perspective.

These videos/animations/other will be published on the Headstart website and shared with TNLCF and council commissioners to inform the design of future projects.

We are funding this in order to give young people voice. The Headstart learning page has reports written by adults for adults. We are keen to gather materials in video/animation/other formats to provide an alternative to the written reports.
